Rickenbacker 481 Slant Fret w/OHSC We got this one in on a trade and it actually plays quite nicely and sounds great especially after we had the frets cleaned and buffed and checked out fully !!! Ready to go !

The Rickenbacker 481 Slant Fret is a distinctive electric guitar known for its angled frets , which tilt slightly toward the guitar's body, along with a matching slanted nut, bridge, and pickups, to provide a more ergonomic and comfortable playing experience. Produced between 1974 and 1979, it also features a pickup phase reversal switch and two humbucker pickups, offering a unique sound and a highly unusual design for its time. We do not have the pickup covers and apparently, they are not available!

Key Features of the Rickenbacker 481:

  • Slant Frets:The frets are set at an angle to better match the natural angle of the fingers, which is designed to improve playability and comfort.
  • Slanted Components:The slant of the frets is mirrored by an eight-degree tilt in the guitar's nut, bridge, and pickups.
  • Humbucker Pickups:The guitar is equipped with two humbucker pickups, contributing to its unique sound.
  • Phase Reversal Switch:A distinctive feature that provides tonal variation.
  • Ergonomic Design:The combination of the slanted frets and the matching components creates a comfortable playing feel.

Why it's Unique:

  • Unusual Design:The slant fret design is a radical departure from typical guitar construction and is a key distinguishing feature.
  • Production Rarity:The 481 was produced for a relatively short period, making it a rare and desirable model for collectors and players.
  • Rickenbacker Craftsmanship:Like other Rickenbacker instruments, it showcases exceptional craftsmanship and iconic design elements.

In summary: The Rickenbacker 481 Slant Fret is a unique and sought-after vintage guitar defined by its ergonomic slanted frets and the associated angled components, a phase reversal switch, and two humbucker pickups.
