Hamer guitars were first made in the USA and boomed with the hair bands and people wanting guitars that Gibson were no longer making, like V's and Explorers. Then tastes changed and Fender bought them and started making them in China or Korea, and they cut corners not using primo woods or hardware as much. Then their new owners went back to the drawing board and went back to using real maple caps and premium Mhgny and well made hardware such as wide range tune a matic bridges, and stop tail pieces and gotoh style tuners ! These are very close to the old USA ones ....Indonesia is the new Japan and Korea as a lot of companies are moving from Korea to Indonesia due to well ...lets say an unstable neighbor! They are back from a near 2 year absence and these feel like USA guitars ! These are not anything like the ones from a couple of years ago, the models are the same the shapes are the same but the construction is very first rate ! This little Jr. feels like a 50's Gibson Jr. to me ..they ring and the P90 is fat ....get your Missisippi Queen on for about 3000.00 less !!!

The Special Jr.
A slightly downscale version of the Sunburst was originally released in 1980. It differed from the Sunburst mainly in that it lacked binding and an arched top. Built with a full depth dovetail neck joint and fitted with a Hamer Dog Eared P-90, the SPJ provides resonance galore. It may look like a one-trick pony—but what a ride.
